A Congress leader here was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire at him here Thursday, police said.
The incident took place around 7.30 p.m in the city's Shastri Nagar area.
Hari Om Kaushik, a former councillor, was shot at when Kaushik was manoeuvring his car into his house.
The three assailants, who came on a motorcycle, fled from the spot after pumping three bullets into his chest, police said.
Kaushik's family members, who were the eyewitnesses of the attack, took him to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to the Noida-based Fortis Hospital.
A case was registered in connection with the case and a probe was launched, said Superintendent of Police (City) Shiv Hari Meena.
According to police record, Kaushik faces three murder cases himself and is out on bail in one of them.
