The Congress on Wednesday staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha when Finance Minister Arun Jaitley rose to reply to a debate on the Lalit Modi issue.
Members of the Congress left the house as they were demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reply to the debate.
Both Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had demanded that the prime minister reply to the debate which had been taken up under an adjournment motion.
However, when Jaitley got up to reply, members of the opposition party left the house.
The adjournment motion was thus negated by a voice vote in the absence of the Congress which had moved it.
