Firebrand BJP leader Sakshi Maharaj criticised the Congress on Saturday repeatedly disrupting parliament during its winter session that concluded on December 23, saying the party is yet to digest the drubbing it has received in last year's Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters here, he said while other opposition parties were ready to let both houses of Parliament function, the Congress refused to go along.

The Congress, he alleged, did so because it is still not able to reconcile to the fact that they have been handed its worst ever drubbing in a general election and have been booted out of power by people of India.

"The Congress without power is like fish without water and so we can understand their trauma," he said.

About reports saying the Uttar Pradesh government was planning to acquire the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, Sakshi Maharaj said during the winter session of Parliament, he had taken up the matter with both the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav. Both had denied any such move.

Stating a bright future for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Unnao MP said all the 73 party MPs should not only be assigned their duties right now but should also be asked to fan out in their constituencies. "So that we can realise the dream of a two-third majority in the state assembly polls, scheduled for early 2017."
