Police in Brazil have arrested former Corinthians midfielder Pia for attempting to steal money from an automated teller machine (ATM).
The 41-year-old was detained on Saturday in the city of Americana, about 100 km northwest of Sao Paulo, police said in a brief statement, reports Xinhua.
Pia, whose full name is Reginaldo Revelino Jandoso, played seven Brazilian Serie A matches for Corinthians in 2004. He also represented top-flight clubs Santos and Ponte Preta during his career.
It is not the first time Pia has got in trouble with the law and authorities.
He was arrested in February last year for allegedly belonging to a syndicate that stole ATMs.
In 2008 he was acquitted of a 1999 murder charge and in 2001 he was found guilty of illegally possessing a weapon.
