The CPI-M's state committee on Friday sternly rebuked party member and state Tourism and Devasoms Minister Kadakampally Surendran for participating in rituals at the famed Sreekrishna Temple in Guruvayur, during his visit last month.
Even though his visit to the temple by virtue of being the Devasom Minister was not criticised, his offering of prayers and participating in the rituals came under heavy attack at the party meeting here.
As state party Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan reported the incident, several members criticised the Minister and wished that he could have avoided this.
Some pointed out that in the past too there were CPI-M members who held the Devasoms portfolio, but they never ever did what Surendran did.
Surendran, after seeing the mood of the meeting, admitted that he could have been more careful.
