The CPI-M Sunday said it will try to unify non-Congress and non-BJP parties in order to provide alternative policies to the country.
"Right now there is a process of political churning, a process of political alignment and realignment is going on," party leader Sitaram Yechury told the media here.
"What shape it will take is a future thing, but what we want is unification of non-Congress and non-BJP parties for providing alternative policies which the country needs," he added.
He ridiculed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's call for a Federal Front.
"A front is not formed by merely announcing it. We have seen such experiments in the past, and they are neither sustainable nor do they inspire people's confidence.
"May be it's a ploy to divert attention from her government's shortcomings or to enhance her importance in national politics," Yechury said.
He said there were two streams of Left in the country -- Communist Left and Socialist Left.
"If these two unite, we can become a potent political force," he said.
"The Left parties are meeting in Delhi in July. We will not only discuss alternative policies with non-Congress non-BJP parties but will announce our policies," Yechury added.
