Thrissur (Kerala) Additional Director General of Police N. Shankar Reddy, who probed alleged cheating in in LL.M. exam by senior police officer T.J. Jose, has recommended a further probe by the Crime Branch wing of Kerala Police.

The incident was reported at the St. Paul's College Kalamassery near Kochi on May 4.

Reddy told IANS that there were a few loose ends and what he did was only a preliminary probe.

"The invigilator was not able to produce any documentary evidence of any pieces of paper which Jose is alleged to have possessed while writing the examination. Also I gave the answer sheets of Jose to a senior professor for valuation and he said there are lots of mistakes in what he has written and he has opined that if he had copied the answer from a paper, it would not be like this. To him it appears Jose has written from his memory and not copied from somewhere," said Reddy.

Reddy said he had submitted his report to the state police chief with a recommendation for a further probe by the Crime Branch and also to look into what the MG University has reported.

On May 4 Jose, inspector general of police, Thrissur range, was caught cheating while taking an exam for the Master of Law (LL.M) degree.

The invigilator after an hour into the examination asked Jose to leave the hall after finding him copying from papers that he brought with him.

The home ministry had asked Jose, on May 4, to extend his leave till further notice.

The issue is likely to be discussed in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
