Two senior Indian officials, including Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Rajeev Mehta, have been arrested in Glasgow on separate charges, IOA sources confirmed here Sunday.
Sources in the IOA told IANS that while wrestling referee Virender Malik has been arrested for alleged sexual assault, Mehta has been held for alleged drunken driving.
The two will be presented in court Monday.
"I have seen the media reports about the Glasgow incidents. At the moment, the details are rather sketchy and it is unfair to jump to conclusions at the moment. Let us see what are the details when the accused are produced in court Monday," IOA President N. Ramachandran was quoted as saying by CNN-IBN.
He further clarified that the wrestling official was not part of IOA.
