Deepika Singh asked to gain weight for TV show

The ongoing pregnancy track in TV show "Diya Aur Baati Hum" has helped television actress Deepika Singh embark on a foodie trail.

The show's makers have asked Deepika, who is seen as an IPS officer Sandhya Rathi, to gain weight, and this has given an excuse to Deepika to cheat on her diet.

"This sequence requires me to look a little plump. Hence, I'm eating right things to gain a little weight to justify my role in the show. I will be seen pregnant with twins and so it's all the more necessary to gain weight," Deepika said in a statement.

The Star Plus show is gearing up take a plunge of six years. After the leap, Deepika will be shown as a mother of twins and a Superintendent of Police. The track will revolve around how she will strike a balance between her job and motherhood.

The actress is excited about the change in storyline.

"I am really looking forward to the leap as a lot of interesting things have been planned," she added.

The show will go in fast forward mode next week.
