Welsh football club Swansea City announced on Friday the contract renewal of defender Federico Fernandez until June 2020.
Fernandez, 28, who arrived at Swansea in August 2014 from Napoli, would have finished his contract at the end of next season, reports Efe news agency.
"The new contract helps me because it shows I have the confidence of the club. Now I am looking forward to the future," said the Argentine in a statement on the Swansea's website.
"We have had three managers in a short space of time, but now the players are getting their confidence back," he said.
Swansea City are in 15th place in the english Premier League (EPL), four points above the relegation zone, and will face league leaders Chelsea on Saturday.
