A special one-day Delhi Assembly session on Wednesday was extended for a sitting on Monday to discuss the proposed Metro fare hike.

The Aam Aadmi Party government has locked horns with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation over the proposed hike to be enforced from October 10 -- the second this year. The last hike was effected in May.

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Wednesday introduced a resolution in the Assembly, opposing the hike. The discussion and passing of the resolution will happen on Monday.

Gahlot said that the proposed hike is an "insensitive approach" and urged the Union Ministry of Urban Development to "actively and quickly intervene".

The Minister said that the hike would be a burden on people reeling under the effect of the Goods and Services Tax, demonetisation and fuel price hike.
