Delhi's unauthorised colonies are likely to be regularized, said the BJP after state chief Satish Upadhyay raised the issue in a meeting with union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu here Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Upadhyay submitted a memorandum to the minister mentioning the nine main problems of Delhi including regularization of unauthorized colonies.

"The minister (Naidu) has called a high level meeting to consider our demands and it is expected that the government will take action," Upadhyay said after the meeting.

Some of the key demands in the memorandum include providing community services to all the unauthorized colonies, on the basis of recommendations of the MPs, by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi government and all the municipal corporations.

In addition, the BJP recommended that the 351 roads should be allowed to be used as commercial or mixed land and Rs.500 crore be granted to municipalities for sanitation work.

Furthermore, the DDA should allot land to the Delhi Jal Board for solving the problem of water supply in west Delhi while the central government should ensure adequate supply of Yamuna water from Haryana, it said.

The BJP also sought separate land to build night shelters for the homeless especially during the winter season.
