Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will on Friday start distributing compensation cheques under Gajendra Singh Kisan Sahayata Yojana to Delhi farmers whose crops were destroyed by recent unseasonal rains.

The distribution process will begin from Bawana in Delhi, a statement said on Tuesday.

The Delhi cabinet had on May 1 approved the scheme and the formula for payment of compensation to the farmers.

It was decided that farmers whose entire crop had been destroyed would be paid Rs.20,000 per acre and farmers whose crop loss was assessed to be below 70 percent would get a minimum compensation of Rs.14,000 per acre.
