The Delhi government will organise a conclave of chief ministers here on Wednesday to discuss the issues on co-operative federalism, said. a government official

"West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar have confirmed their attendance in the conclave. West Bengal CM has already reached the city on Tuesday," the official told IANS.

He added that confirmation from the chief ministers of other states was yet to come.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will send a recorded message on the issue as he is busy in the preparations for the assembly elections in his state, the official said.

The Delhi government had sent invitation to all chief ministers to discuss the centre-state relationship but only chief ministers of non-Bharatiya Janata Party and non-Congress-ruled states are expected to attend the meeting.

Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Sitaram Yechury earlier had said that after Kejriwal became chief minister, his party had suggested him to convene a meeting of non-BJP chief ministers.

According to officials at Delhi government, a discussion on co-operative federalism had become urgent in context of various states which had elected political parties different from the one in the centre.

The agenda of this conclave was not to focus only on Delhi but also on the problems of other states which are facing the lack of centre-state coordination, the official said.
