The Delhi government on Saturday filed a fresh application in the High Court seeking to restrain Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief Mukesh Kumar Meena from interfering in the activities of the anti-corruption department.

"An application was moved before the court seeking to restrain Meena from interfering in the day-to-day activities of ACB," said Delhi government counsel Raman Duggal.

Meena was appointed ACB chief by Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on June 8 superseding ACB's Additional Commissioner S.S.Yadav. The Delhi government has objected to the appointment of Meena.

The fresh application was filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led government as part of a petition filed earlier that challenged the union home ministry's May 21 notification holding that Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has discretionary powers on appointments and transfers to key bureaucratic posts in the capital.

The application sought restraint over the functioning of Meena as ACB chief till the disposal of the petition challenging the May 21 notification.

Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said Meena was involved in scams and a probe against him in the hawala scam was ordered on May 1.
