Observing there was a possibility of vector-borne diseases spreading during the monsoon season, the Delhi High Court on Monday directed the state government and civic authorities to issue an advisory on preventive steps related to dengue and chikungunya.
A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar said that it is better to issue an advisory regarding preventive steps from mosquito-borne diseases early so that the situation cannot deteriorate later.
The bench has also asked for publication solid waste management by-laws and listed the matter for further hearing on August 7.
The court was hearing PILs claiming the government and civic agencies have not taken preventive steps against vector-borne diseases such as chikungunya and dengue.
