Delhi BJP's chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan Thursday said the state has slipped into "ICU" because of the Congress's misrule. He promised to weed out corruption by introducing technology in administration if the party comes to power.
"Delhi is in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and needs a healing touch," he said adding that the Sheila Dikshit-led government has failed despite ruling the national capital for 15 years.
"Corruption takes place as there is an interface between the government and public. We will bring transparency in the government through technology," Vardhan said in his first media interaction after being declared the BJP's CM-candidate for the coming assembly polls.
He attacked the Congress government on inflation, water, power, slums, women's safety, corruption, etc.
Vardhan was Wednesday declared the new face of the party. "Not only will we form the government in Delhi but also at the Centre under Modiji (Narendra Modi) and free people from the world's most corrupt government," he added.
He said staple food like onions which a poor man could afford in the past is out of limits for even middle class families, as the bulbs are selling for Rs.100 a kg in some parts of Delhi.
"When we were born in Delhi, we saw beautiful Yamuna. There was good water supply. But Delhi which we were all proud of has fallen sick," lamented Vardhan.
He said the Delhi government has failed to create jobs for locals.
State party chief Vijay Goel and party in-charge of Delhi polls Nitin Gadkari were also present at the interaction.
"I hope this time onion prices bring so much tears in her (Dikshit's) eyes she knows the pain of commoners," Gadkari said.
Delhi will go to polls Dec 4 to elect a new assembly.
