The high court here Thursday asked Delhi's lieutenant governor to convene a meeting of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) officials regarding relocation of the Millennium bus depot from the Yamuna river bed.

Justice V.K. Shali said there was a lot of communication gap between the agencies (DDA and DTC) working on the issue and posted the matter for Feb 11.

The DTC had promised the court that it will vacate the land by the prescribed date of Oct 31.

But during the hearing Thursday, it sought more time to vacate the land and said it will file an application on extension of time to vacate the site.

During the hearing the DDA - the capital's land-owning agency - told the court that it has handed over three plots to the DTC for the relocation of the Millennium bus depot.

Lands at Narela, Rohini and Sarai Kale Khan have been handed over to the DTC or the state transport department. It added that only one site at Karkari More in east Delhi is yet to be handed over and this will take a few more months.

The Millennium bus depot was built on about 50 acres of land at a cost of Rs.60 crore.

The then Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party government had decided to shift the depot from the river bed, accepting a demand made in a public interest litigation filed in the Delhi High Court.
