Delhi Police case against Telangana leader quashed

The Delhi High Court has quashed a police case registered against Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader Harish Rao after he assaulted an official of the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan here two years ago.

Rao, TRS party chief K.Chandrashekhar Rao's nephew, and three of his party colleagues had allegedly attacked the resident commissioner of the Bhavan.

The official allegedly did not allow them to bring into the complex the dead body of a man, who had committed suicide over the demand for creating a separate Telanagana state out of Andhra Pradesh.

Justice Hima Kohli recently quashed the first information report (FIR) after both the parties, Rao, other three TRS members and the Bhavan's official told the court that they had settled the issue.

The case was registered July 22, 2011 at the Tilak Marg Police Station against the TRS leader and three others.

Rao along with party members like K.T. Rama Rao, Etela Rajender and former MP B. Vinod Kumar had gone to Andhra Bhavan to keep the body of M. Yadi Reddy, who hanged himself from a tree at India Gate.

The TRS members wanted to pay floral tributes to Yadi Reddy and bring his body to the guest house from the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where the autopsy was done. However, the Bhavan officials did not allow the body to be brought inside the premises.

Rao, along with others, then barged into the resident commissioner's office at the Bhavan and allegedly abused and slapped him.
