A police car escorting Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi Tuesday took a man to a hospital after he was injured on being hit by a car here.
Sujat Alam, a journalist with a Hindi daily, was hit by a car at Rajpath, half a km from Rashtrapati Bhavan, when he was going to his office in central Delhi.
The car that hit Alam was being driven by a female Delhi University student.
"Police Commissioner Bassi asked his driver to stop and himself got down from his car," a witness told IANS.
Bassi asked his security men in his convoy to take the injured journalist to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Alam was taken in a car escorting Bassi to the hospital where he is said to out of danger, police said.
Police said they have detained the female driver and impounded the vehicle.
