A day after the city was lashed by heavy rains, Tuesday saw sunny and humid weather and the maximum temperature settling a notch below average at 33.1 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast rains Wednesday.

"Skies will remain cloudy... some parts of the city will get rains," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum and minimum temperatures Wednesday are expected to hover between 32 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Tuesday's minimum temperature was a notch below average at 25.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum humidity settled at 95 percent.

The capital saw chaos Monday evening following rains, with traffic jams and flooding of streets, but everything was running smoothly Tuesday morning.

Rainfall of 28.6 mm was recorded up to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Monday's maximum and minimum temperature was recorded two notches above the season's average at 36 degrees and 28.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The national capital has recorded 460 mm of rain since the arrival of early monsoon in June which is 73 percent more than the average.
