Designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna's new collection is for all young women who have a mind of their own and can multi-task. And "Hero" actress Athiya Shetty served as a perfect example for the spring-summer collection that was showcased here.
Maybelline New York and the designer duo presented an interesting collaboration between fashion and beauty along with the cosmetic brand's official make-up artist Elton J. Fernandez at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016.
The show started pretty late, but watching Fernandez working on the looks of the models at the Maybelline New York's counter set the mood for the evening.
After waiting for over an hour, the audience seemed thrilled to see the collection which followed the theme of "Many Mazes, Many Minds".
It saw structured silhouettes in mesh, silk organza and more highlighted with unique motifs and tone on tone embellishments.
Athiya, also the cosmetic brand's ambassador, showcased the designers' pret collection, inspired by the Maybelline woman who is modern, edgy, ambitious and diverse.
Vivid tones of mint, white, coral, sky hues, frost and black formed a strong part of the collection. A stark combination of black and white stripes was also used.
"The collection is for young women who have their own mind. It was especially designed for Maybelline keeping New York in mind. Athiya's energy brought the whole show together. The silhouettes are easy... dresses, shorts. They are for every girl who are multi-tasking -- working, going out and partying," said Khanna.
With coral lips and no dark colours on the eyes, Athiya, donning a body hugging blingy outfit with cut-outs and thigh high slit, looked a bit nervous as she made her way through the audience who got a chance to see her and the other models up, close and personal, thanks to the intimate seating.
"I was very nervous and then I saw people cheering and getting positive vibes from them. Then I got really excited," Athiya, who made her maiden solo ramp walk on Saturday, told reporters after the show.
"I've lived in New York. So, I was excited when I got to know that I will be walking for them. It's (the outfit) edgy, classy and chic. It's blingy yet elegant," added the actress, who had earlier walked along with her "Hero" co-star Sooraj Pancholi as a showstopper during the film's promotions.
After taking a bow on the stage, she was spotted greeting Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who is the daughter of veteran actors Neetu and Rishi Kapoor.
