Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan topped the list of the most mentioned players from India in Twitter after his ton (137) for a winning cause against South Africa in a Pool B World Cup encounter.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (@msdhoni) and Ajinkya Rahane (@ajinkyarahane88) were the second and third most spoken about men in blue, respectively, among netizens.

While Dhoni's aggressive captaincy and field placements drew praise from cricket aficionados, fans were gung ho over Rahane's 79 off just 60 balls in Sunday's outing against the Proteas, which India won by 130 runs.

The moment Dhawan - later adjudged man of the match - reached his century, Twitter went abuzz with posts congratulating the left-hander.

But interestingly, fans were most excited as India inched to victory.

Of the top five most-tweeted moments, four were from the game's second innings when Indian bowlers were busy putting the South African batting to the sword.

A total of around 770,000 tweets were posted related to the match.

Hashim Amla was the most popular cricketer for the Proteas.
