The widow of former union minister and Chhattisgarh BJP MP Dilip Singh Judeo, who died Wednesday, attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills here, a doctor said.
Madhavi Judeo, 60, consumed the pills Wednesday night a few hours after she heard the news of her husband's death. She was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here around 10.15 p.m.
"As soon as she was brought to the hospital, we took her for stomach wash. She is still drowsy but her condition is out of danger. It is yet to be ascertained how many sleeping pills she consumed," said a doctor at RML Hospital.
Dilip Singh Judeo, former union minister and Chhattisgarh BJP MP, died Wednesday at a Gurgaon hospital where he was being treated for liver and kidney infection for the past 45 days. He was 64.
