Sidelined AIADMK leader T.T.V. Dinakaran has declared total assets of Rs 74.17 lakh in his affidavit filed with his nomination papers for the December 21 Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency bypoll, making him poorer than the official AIADMK candidate.

Dinakaran, who is contesting as an Independent candidate, has disclosed that he owns movable properties worth around Rs 16.73 lakh and immovable assets worth around Rs 57.44 lakh.

According to the affidavit, Dinakaran's wife owns movable assets worth around Rs 6.87 crore and immovable asset worth around Rs 2.4 crore. She owes banks around Rs 5.42 crore.

On the other hand, DMK candidate N. Marudhu Ganesh has declared that he owns movable assets worth around Rs 2.57 lakh and immovable assets worth around Rs 10 lakh. His wife owns movable assets worth around Rs 7.08 lakh.

Ruling AIADMK candidate E. Madhusudhanan has disclosed assets worth around Rs 1.49 crore (movable Rs 12.53 lakh, immovable Rs 1.37 crore). However, his wife owns movable assets worth around Rs 39.21 lakh and immovable assets worth around Rs 3.30 crore.

The by-election, necessitated after the death of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in December 2016, was slated to be held April 12 this year but cancelled subsequently following allegations that voters were being bribed.
