The US dollar changed hands in the lower 109 yen zone in early trade on Friday morning in Tokyo, marginally higher than levels seen overnight in New York.
At 9 a.m., the dollar was quoted at 109.13-14 yen compared with 108.95-109.05 yen in New York and 108.92-94 yen at 5 p.m. in Tokyo on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched $1.1373-1374 and 124.11-12 yen against $1.1373-1383 and 123.97-124.07 yen in New York and $1.1407-1408 and 124.25-29 yen late on Thursday afternoon in Tokyo.
