Borussia Dortmund will have to play without defender Neven Subotic for the rest of the season owing to a torn posterior cruciate ligament, the Bundesliga runners-up announced Sunday.
Dortmund suffered two setbacks in a spell. The "BVB" not only lost 2-1 to Wolfsburg but also lost Serbian international Subotic to a cruciate ligament, reported Xinhua.
The defender suffered his knee injury during the encounter against Wolfsburg following a challenge with Ivica Olic. It is unlikely to see Subotic back on the pitch for the rest of season as he will be sidelined for at least six months, according to club doctor Markus Braun.
"Don't worry. I will come back even stronger," the defender said.
Dortmund are placed second with a four-point gap to leaders Bayern Munich.
