Two food vendors, working for a Tamil Nadu-based firm, were Friday sent to jail for two months for selling unsafe popadams.

Mohammad Ameen from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Nizam Farooq from Goa were nabbed for selling unsafe popadams at a festival in 2011 after Food Drugs Administration officials found that the popaddams they were selling were made with non-permitted colours.

A trial court here Friday sentenced them to 60 days of simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs.20,000 each.
