The Odisha government on Friday decided to go for e-tendering to hire trucks for transporting minerals from various sources in the state.
The government took the decision after the mines leaseholders and industries complained that the truck owners are charging high tariff for transporting minerals.
"The government has decided to go for e-tendering for engagement of truck agencies to transport minerals. State PSU Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) would develop the module for e-tendering," said mines director Deepak Mohanty.
He said through the process, the government would select the trucks to be engaged and determine the maximum charges depending on the distance.
Mohanty said the modules will be finalized within one or two months.
