An earthquake of 6.6 magnitude hit a town in the US state of Alaska on Monday, a media report said.
The earthquake hit about 145 kilometres west of Adak, a town located on Adak Island in Alaska, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said the quake took place 9:01 a.m. local time at depth of 1.6 kilometre.
According to the 2010 US census, Adak of the Aleutians West Census Area, which is the town closest to the epicentre, had a population of 326.
While there has been no immediate report of injury or damage from the quake, Alaska experienced four tremors in the previous 48 hours.
