Army's eastern command chief, Lt.Gen. Praveen Bakshi, on Friday reviewed the security environment and operations being carried out in Manipur to combat militancy in the affected areas, an official statement said.
On his maiden visit in the northeastern state, Lt.Gen. Bakshi was briefed at the Leimakhong Garrison by Red Shield Division commander on the prevailing security situation in the area.
Accompanied by 3 Corps commander, Lt.Gen. Bipin Rawat, Lt.Gen. Bakshi interacted with officers and commanders of the formation and complimented all ranks "for their all round endeavours" to effectively combat insurgency in the state, according to a defence ministry media release.
He directed all ranks to ensure people-friendly operations in maintaining normalcy in the area and emphasised on the need for highest standards of military ethos in conduct of justified operations in Manipur.
