ECoR has carried 95.53 million tonnes of freight against 87.16 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last financial year, a senior official of Bhubaneswar-headquartered ECoR told IANS.

The growth in freight earnings is despite continued disruptions in the key revenue generating area such as Kottavalasa (in Andhra Pradesh)-Kirandul (in Chhattisgarh) line and Daitari-Bansapani line (in Odisha) due to various reasons, he said.

In December last year, ECoR loaded 12.07 million tonnes of freight against 10.90 million tonnes in December 2011, which is 10.8 percent more than last year - and 4 percent more than the target fixed by the Railway Board, the official said.

Coal loading at Paradeep Port at an average of 10.6 rakes a day, Visakhapatnam Port at 8.6 rakes per day, Gangavaram Port at 4.4 rakes per day and Dhamara Port at 6.2 rakes per day - and 52 rakes per day at other places - are best ever in any December at ECoR, he said.

ECoR has also created best-ever performance in loading coal at Talcher at an average of 32.3 rakes per day and at 62.9 rakes per day in other places, and best ever loading of foodgrain at an average of 2.7 rakes per day in December.
