The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday was granted a seven-day extension of the custody of the chartered accountant of RJD chief Lalu Prasad's daughter Misa Bharti in connection with an alleged money laundering case.

Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Pandey extended the ED custody of chartered accountant Rajesh Agrawal, who was arrested on Monday from Delhi for his involvement in a money laundering and black money racket.

Agrawal was presented in court after the expiry of his three-day ED custody.

The ED sought extension of Agrawal's custody as he has to be confronted with various documents and the statement collected during the earlier investigation.

Defence counsel Shailender Babbar opposed the plea and said there was no strong ground to remand the accused to further custody and it would be a violation of his fundamental right.

Agrawal was accused of converting black money into legal source of income through dubious transactions with the help of Surendra Kumar Jain and his brother Virendra Jain -- known as Jain brothers. The ED arrested the Jain brothers on March 20.

At least 90 shell firms are under the ED scanner.

Agrawal has also been accused of helping Bharti's husband's company, Mishail Packers and Printers Pvt Ltd "with some transactions".
