At least eight persons were injured in an explosion in a passenger train in Shajapur district in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, authorities said.
According to police, a coach caught fire after the explosion near the Jabri railway station. The injured were taken to the Kalapipal hospital.
The cause of the explosion is not known. The police have not ruled out the use of explosives in the incident.
The train was going to Ujjain from Bhopal, according to A.K. Siddiqui, a railway officer. A medical van was rushed to the site, the police said.
Shujalpur Sub Divisional Officer Amit Mishra told IANS that the coach was badly affected in the incident. "It has been detached from the train," he said.
