At least eight people were killed and two injured on Saturday when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rains in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province.

"Due to heavy rain the roof of a house collapsed in Walisa village of Shirzad district, killing eight people, including women and children," an official told Xinhua news agency.

All the victims belonged to the families of two brothers who used to live in the same house, the official said.

Four more houses were damaged in Khogyani district due to rain but there were no casualties, he added.
