Mizoram Governor, Lt.Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (retd.) on Tuesday summoned an emergency session of the state assembly on April 21 to pass an important land acquisition bill, an official said here.
"Governor Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (retd.) urgently summoned the one-day ninth session of the Mizoram assembly on April 21 to approve the Mizoram (Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement) Bill, 2016," said a state assembly official.
He said that the important bill, introduced on the last day of the budget session of the state assembly on March 31, by Land Revenue and Settlement Minister R. Romawia, was referred to the select committee after the legislators cited some loopholes in the bill.
The official said that it was extremely essential for the government for expeditious passage of the bill to avoid some administrative and legal hitches on land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement.
