Empoli prevailed 2-1 over visiting Udinese, earning its second Serie A victory this season in its first match under new coach Giuseppe Iachini.
Attacking midfielder Miha Zajc opened the scoring for Empoli four minutes before first half stoppage time on Sunday, and six minutes after the break, striker Francesco Caputo doubled the hosts' lead, reports Efe.
Udinese winger Rodrigo De Paul squandered a chance to narrow the gap on an unsuccessful penalty attempt in the 79th minute, however Ignacio Pussetto pulled one back for the visitors two minutes later, but an equalizer never materialized.
Empoli moved up into the 17th spot in the table with nine points, on a goal differential ahead of 18th-placed Udinese.--IANS
