In the ongoing probe into the admissions scam in city schools under the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category, the Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted another module with the arrest of another person.
Neeraj, arrested earlier this week from west Delhi, was working at Lancer Convent School in west Delhi's Rohini area and getting admissions with the help of his associates.
Police said he used to charge Rs.1 lakh to Rs.3 lakh per admission at Lancer Convent School.
"In the current academic session, Neeraj got more than 10 children admitted under EWS category using fake certificates," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said.
Neeraj, the officer said, told police that he had come in contact with his neighbour Mukesh Sharma -- who was earlier arrested in this scam.
"Mukesh was the man who helped Neeraj to get his niece admitted at Bal Bharti School in Pitampura," Yadav said.
After the admission of his niece, the officer said, Neeraj learnt the process and met Nadeem through Mukesh from whom he used to procure EWS certificates.
"Neeraj started acting independently and induced prospective clients outside Lancer Convent School who wanted to get their children admitted to the school at any cost," Yadav said.
According to the officer, such admission racketeers operated in various prominent schools across Delhi.
