Ahead of the nation's 75th Independence anniversary in 2022, an exhibition on the freedom struggle and Quit India Movement's role in it that will be staged at 39 places across the country was launched here on Friday.

The exhibition-cum-seminar, titled "Naya Bharat - Karke Rahenge" will narrate the journey of India's freedom struggle from the 1857 Revolt till India got indepedence in 1947, and will include the Champaran struggle, Dandi Yatra, and Non-Cooperation Movement.

"(T)his programme is not just an exhibition, it is like a Sankalp (pledge). India got independence just in five years of starting Quit India Movement due to its Sankalp. Every freedom fighter fought for Independence in a different method. In Lok Sabha, all parties have made a Sankalp to make a New India in next five years," Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said at the inauguration, as per a Parliamentary Affairs Ministry statement.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi emphsised the importance of the exhibition to keep alive the memories of the freedom struggle since "very few people who participated in August Kranti Andolan are alive today".

"In this context, it is very important to make our children know about how we have got our Independence," he said.
