Father-in-law of IAS officer shot dead

The police have launched an investigation after the father-in-law of a senior IAS officer was shot dead by unidentified persons near Punjab's Rajpura town, around 45 km from here, police said on Sunday.

The body of Swaran Singh, father-in-law of IAS officer Varun Roojam, was found in his car near the highway on Sunday. Police said the victim, 64, was shot thrice from close range.

The police have ruled out any terrorist angle to the killing.
