Director Sudhir Mishra says that he felt envious of director Abhishek Chaubey after watching his film "Udta Punjab" and lauded his different style of thought and film-making.
Present at the screening of the film "7 Hours To Go", Mishra said: "'Udta Punjab' is such a good film. Abhishek Chaubey is such a fine director. His films 'Ishqiya', 'Dedh Ishqiya', the way he thinks is so different. He thinks in a such an unusual and original way, his scenes are so different that I felt envious watching his films."
Chaubey, who had started his career assisting director Vishal Bhardwaj, had made "Ishqiya" and "Dedh Ishqiya" for Bhardwaj's banner. His first film outside of Bhardwaj's banner, "Udta Punjab", faced numerous controversies that were threatening its release, but the film starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh, finally released on June 17 and managed to take a good opening at the box-office.
Mishra added: "I really liked 'Udta Punjab' and you just forget everything, you just flow in the story, with the characters. Shahid and Alia have done such good work, without any fear and it is brilliant that Alia, at this stage, without worrying she has done such a different part. All are very good, Diljit is very good. The casting is so excellent nowadays, they shoot on locations now.
"The directors today are very good. You will now see Rakeysh Mehra's film 'Mirzya', he is a very good director, Ashutosh is coming up with 'Mohenjo Daro' which is very good, I am waiting for Vishal's next film 'Rangoon'. Anurag's film 'Raman Raghav 2.0' is also coming, you should definitely watch it, it is a very good film. Nawaz (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) has done a brilliant job."
Mishra, who has an experience of more than three decades in the industry, also said: "People should also watch small films and encourage the newcomers. Somehow somewhere a talent comes out of it. I like watching films of newcomers as there is a kind of freshness, a sort of freedom, they make films without any fear and that makes it different."
Mishra is currently shooting for his film "Daasdev" starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Rahul Bhat.
