Felt motivated, inspired listening to our PM: Students

Students said they felt motivated and inspired after listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he addressed them during a live interaction on Teachers' Day Friday.

About 100 students of Salwan Public School in east Delhi heard the prime minister's address and interaction in the school's computer room.

"We want to hear him (Modi) more...This thing should be continued. I feel motivated," Priyanka Bhatia, a class 9 student, told IANS.

The students laughed when Modi cracked jokes and shared his school experiences as he spoke at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment, from where the event was telecast live on Doordarshan and streamed live on the human resource development ministry website.

They clapped with enthusiasm as Modi answered every question asked by students from other states via video conferencing.

Rahul Mohan, also of the same class, said: "This should happen every year. His (Modi) speech was inspiring and very educative."

The students appreciated the issues touched upon by the prime minister.

"Girl student education and toilets in every school are the subjects he talked about. I also want to work on these subjects in future," said Tanmaya of class 10.

Teachers kept explaining the meaning of each question to the students and discussed the subjects which the prime minister was talking about.

Teachers were also noting down the questions asked by students to the prime minister and the answers.

"We were able to understand every word he spoke. His language is so simple," Stuti, another student, said.

The school had made arrangements for about 200 students to watch Modi live in school. Other students were asked to watch the programme on Doordarshan in their homes.

"We had arranged for 200 students living close by to watch the programme and stay back in school," said school principal Kiran Mehta.

Teacher Paramita Maiti said: "There was no problem in managing the arrangements. The children were very excited to hear our prime minister."

Earlier, the school ran normal classes till 11.30 a.m. and then held its Teachers' Day function.
