Fiji, home to a large ethnic Indian population, is likely to hold its first sitting of parliament Oct 6, media reported.
"Fiji is likely hold its first sitting in parliament since the 2006 military coup Oct 6," secretary general to parliament Viniana Namosimalua said, fijilive.com reported.
"President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will give a declaration on that, and it has to be sometime this week," Namosimalua said.
"Election of the speaker, deputy speaker and the leader of opposition would be part of the agenda for the first parliament sitting," Namosimalua said.
FijiFirst, led by Prime Minister Voreqe Frank Bainimarama won 32 seats, the Social Democratic Liberal Party won 15 while the National Federation Party won three seats in the 2014 general election held Sep 17.
Ethnic Indians comprise 37 percent of Fiji's population of nearly 870,000.
Most of them are descendants of indentured labourers who were brought in from India between 1879 and 1916 to work in the country's sugarcane plantations.
