A case has been registered against unknown people late Friday for disclosing the identity of the Tehelka rape victim via mass e-mails, police said Friday.
An official said that a first information report under sections relating to insulting the modesty of a woman and section 66 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered after the victim complained that an email with her photo as well as vulgar content had been mass mailed earlier this week.
"The FIR has been filed after the written complaint was scrutinised by senior officers," said an officer who was part of a team, which went to record the statement of the Mumbai-based victim.
Following a complaint of the victim Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has been arrested more than a month ago. Tejpal is currently in a judicial lock up at the Sada sub jail located 40 kms from here.
