Five persons were killed and 22 injured when a tractor-trolley carrying people back from a cremation rammed into a speeding truck in Budayun district, police said Friday.
The incident occurred in Nagla Dullu village in Bilsi area late Thursday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Budayun, Saumitra Yadav told IANS that the truck driver fled the accident site after the mishap. The victims were returning after attending a cremation at the Kachla Ganga Ghat. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and the injured have been admitted to hospitals.
The truck was loaded with liquor and was speeding when it rammed into the tractor- trolley at the Mukaiyya bridge on the Mujariya-Bilsi road.
