Five people were killed, all of a family and more than two dozen others injured when a high tension electricity wire broke and fell on a passenger bus in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Friday evening, police said.
The bus, on which 40 passengers were travelling, was returning to Rabupura when near the Qureshian ara under the Kakod police station, the wire snapped and fell on it.
The deceased have been identified as Dilshaad, Rizwan, Kallo and Sajjo. The fifth victim is yet to be identified. Of the injured, the condition of eight is stated to be critical and they have been referred to nearby super-speciality medical facilities.
UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has condoled the loss of lives and announced Rs.2 lakh ex gratia for dependants of those killed in the accident. He also said the treatment of the injured would be done free-of-cost.
