Five people were killed and four injured when a multi-utility vehicle collided with a parked truck near Rajahmundry in East Godavari district early Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place at Bommuru near Rajahmundry when a Tavera MUV hit a parked truck on the national highway. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, where the condition of one of them is stated to be critical.
According to police, nine people from Visakhapatnam were on their way to Vijayawada for a visit to the Kanka Durga temple.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed shock over the accident and directed police to provide immediate relief to the injured.
