At least five people were killed and six injured as the US drones fired missiles at a seminary in Pakistan's Hangu district Thursday morning, local media reported.
The drone strikes happened at around 5:00 a.m. local time and targeted a religious school "Madrassa Dar-ul-Uloom", located in Hangu district's Thall area, a main district in the country's Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province, Xinhua reported.
Many students were inside the seminary at the time of the strike. The school was levelled to ground following the attack. Several students are feared to be buried under the rubbles, said media reports.
The drones launched four missile strikes and continued to hover over the missile-hit-area, causing tension among the tribal people.
This was the first drone strike after Nov 1, when Taliban chief Hakimulla Mehsud was killed in a US drone strike, which affected the peace-talks between Taliban and Pakistani government.
The attack Thursday came a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz told Senate body that the US has assured Pakistan of not launching any drone strikes during the peace talks with the Taliban.
