A trial court in Goa Saturday sent a 39-year-old truck driver to nine days of police remand for molesting a five-year-old girl.
The incident took place Friday when a naval officer had engaged the accused, Sudesh Parab, to transport his luggage out of his house at the Naval Officers' Residential Area (NOFRA) in Dabolim, 30 km from here.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Lawrence D'Souza said that Parab, a resident of Maharashtra, lured the victim while she was playing with a group of children near the house, and took her to his mini-truck's cabin to molest her.
"The girl complained to her mother after which locals caught the driver and beat him up. Later, he was handed over to police," D'Souza said.
