Dense fog affected several areas in Punjab and Haryana on Friday as cold wave conditions continued in both the states, a weather official said here.
Road and railway traffic was affected due to dense fog early Friday. At least 14 trains were running late, railway officials said.
Motorists had to face difficulty on highways due to dense fog in certain sections with low visibility.
Flights to and from Chandigarh and Amritsar airports were also affected with most of them operating with delay.
Dense fog engulfed Chandigarh on Friday morning with visibility reducing to 300 metres in some areas.
Chandigarh recorded coldest day of the season on Thursday with the maximum temperature recorded at 11 degrees Celsius, nine degrees below the season's average. The minimum temperature was recorded 8.8 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Ambala and Karnal towns in Haryana were recorded at 10.3 and 10.6 degrees Celsius respectively on Thursday, making it the coldest day of the season there.
On Friday morning, Rewari town in Haryana recorded a minimum temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Patiala and Ludhiana recorded the maximum temperature of 11.1 degrees Celsius while Amritsar had a high of 11.5 degrees Celsius.
